Have you volunteered in the past? Tell us about it! This includes ArmadilloCon, other conventions, clubs and other similar activities.

I am interested in volunteering with ArmadilloCon in the following way(s): *LOADING CREW (VERY IMPORTANT!) Help move the Art Show flats, Registration boxes, Con Suite goods, and General Supplies! On the evening of Wed Sept 9, all these items have to be unloaded from storage (East Ben White, near I-35). On the evening of Thurs Sept 10, all these items have to be unloaded at the hotel and transported to the area where needed. On Sunday, the process goes in reverse – moving everything out of the hotel and back to the storage location. You must be able to lift at least 25 pounds without difficulty, and have a safety-conscious focus.ART SHOW ASSISTANT Bring your smiles and help make the Art Show a pleasant experience for everyone. You will be among the first people Art Show patrons see upon entering. Have artistic skills? Help us display art work during set-up. Have strong muscles? Help us set up and take down the show, and handle the art flats! Want to be among the first to see what wonders our artists have brought this year? Help with set-up. You could also assist with the Art Show Auction on Saturday.CON OPS ASSISTANT Duties can include updating the schedule posted at doors, helping set up presentation areas between program items, picking up any forgotten speaker name cards, checking the Freebies-Literature Table for neatness, and posting any changes to Programming on a white board. We also need volunteers to hold up “5 Minutes” signs close to the end of panels/talks.CON OPS – CHARITY AUCTION ASSISTANT Assist with the Charity Auction on Saturday. This could include helping transport items to the ballroom, labelling items, and documenting winning bids.CON SUITE ASSISTANT No handling money here, and no cooking. Just individually wrapped snack foods, candy, and drinks. Duties include: Keeping food tables clean, keeping snacks stocked, icing down sodas, stocking sodas, roughly counting people (we have a limit for the rooms), letting Con Suite Hosts know of any problems, help with setup of activities in the room, and giving info to con members. Also, we need major help setting up on Friday afternoon and tearing down/clearing on Sunday.F.A.C.T. TABLE Assist at the table where we will be distributing information about F.A.C.T. (the group behind ArmadilloCon), distributing information about next year’s con, and answering general questions.REGISTRATION PREP Help assemble registration packets before the convention starts.REGISTRATION ASSISTANT If you are out-going and like being front-and-center, you might consider volunteering at Registration. It entails checking in the pre-registered attendees, handing out badges/wristbands and attendee packs, keeping a tally of paid attendees, and hanging with cool people.WORKSHOP ASSISTANT (FRIDAY) If you are outgoing and prepared to be pleasant to people even before they have finished their morning coffee, you might volunteer here. This can include greeting people in the morning, passing out materials, helping to label and hand out box lunches, and putting chairs back after crit sessions are over at about 4 PM.
