Fan Guest: Keith Barnfather
Keith has been a lifelong Doctor Who fan.
He was born in Clapham, London and worked at both the BBC and Channel 4 before leaving to set up independent production company Reeltime Pictures in 1984.
During his time at the BBC, he was involved in the videotape editing department at Television Centre
often on Doctor Who! He regularly watched classic Tom Baker era series being recorded in the
studios!
Working for Reeltime, Keith has produced or directed (or both!) over 600 productions, including: training, information, corporate, business and broadcast television.
He has produced two Greek language television series for Reeltime that were written and directed
by his wife Anastasia Charalambous Barnfather, The Lost Trains of Cyprus and Phoenix – A Story from the Diaspora, the latter winning the prestigious Best International Film award at the AEI Film Festival in Cyprus. Recently, Anastasia’s latest documentary Asylum – Love has no Borders has been a huge success at human rights festivals worldwide – winning over 20 awards.
To Cult TV fans, Keith is best known for the almost legendary Myth Makers interview series (now nearing 200 editions!), numerous documentary specials including I was a Doctor Who Monster!, Lockdown – The Doctor Who Fans’ Survival Guide, Return to Devil’s End, Who on Earth is Tom Baker? and recently Doctor on Display – The USA Tour 1986-1987, The Monster Man (to be screened at Armadillocon Friday night) and Tooth & Claw, plus Doctor Who drama spin-offs Wartime, Downtime, Mindgame, Mindgame Trilogy, Daemos Rising, The White Witch of Devil’s End and Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor.
Reeltime has won over 150 film festival awards worldwide for its Cult TV productions (including over 30 for The Monster Man alone) and the company celebrated its 40 th Anniversary in 2024!
