Did you know that ArmadilloCon is entirely volunteer run? Our planning committee is a tight-knit group of local fans who work hard to make all the fun happen. ArmadilloCon is a part of the Texas nonprofit Fandom Association of Central Texas (F.A.C.T., Inc.).

What level of volunteer position would you like to do? We have positions for different levels of participation. *STAFF: Commits to a task in an Area, usually with a schedule/deadline. Can include pre-con, at-con, and post-con assignments. Typically has prior experience working on conventions. Time commitment will often be over 20 hours total, spread over the months prior to the convention.  Usually requires at-con activity and a willingness to answer email.  Usually not after convention work. Volunteer can work with Chair and other volunteers to manage the exact commitment.AREA HEAD: Reports to Chair. May or may not have staff.  Examples of Areas include Advertising, Program Book, Hospitality Suite, the Newsletter. Requires a willingness to answer email.  Time commitment often reaches the 20 hour per week mark pre-con, at-con, or after con. Volunteer can work with Chair and other volunteers to manage the exact commitment.

I am interested in participating with ArmadilloCon in the following area(s): *ADVERTISING SALES LEAD Contact people about potentially buying ads in the Program Book. If requests accepted, ask Treasurer to invoice them, and refer them to Program Book lead to submit ad. Make sure all advertisers who do not attend, get sent a copy of the book.CHARITY AUCTION LEAD Manage the Charity Auction. Ask dealers if they want to contribute items. Post flyers. Manage auction. Act as auctioneer, or recruit one.CONOPS LEAD Work with Programming Lead and Hotel Liaison to confirm we have right A/V tech for sessions.FACT TABLE LEAD Schedule FACT members to sit at the table. Use newsletter, social events, etc. as ways to connect. Work with Publicity/Graphics Lead to have flyers for table. Possibly, identify possible giveaway items. If cost okayed by the Board, work with the FACT Treasurer to order and document.HOSPITALITY SUITE LEAD Plan a menu of prepackaged snack and drinks. Work with volunteers to keepo the Con Suite clean and stocked. Coordinate with programming on events that happen in the Con Suite.LOADING CREW LEAD Plan and coordinate the movement of items from storage locker to truck, unpacking, repacking, items back to storage.MERCH LEAD Got ideas for cool merch? Come make that happen!MIS ASSISTANT Train with and assist our MIS leadNEWSLETTER Write and/or supply graphicsPROGRAM/SOUVENIR BOOK LEAD Work with a variety of contacts to gather materials for the book. Lay out the book using InDesign. Submit book to printer. Pick the book up and deliver it to the hotel (or arrange for this).PUBLICITY LEAD Work with the Chair to plan ways to publicize the con — social media, email campaigns, flyers.
