The award-winning author of Queen of None, a feminist Arthurian retelling, Natania Barron is preoccupied with mythology, monsters, mayhem, and magic. From medieval-inspired tales to Regency fantasy romance, her often historically-inspired novels are lush with description and vibrant characters. Of her first novel, Pilgrim of the Sky, Library Journal wrote: “Barron’s debut is an sf adventure that mixes high action with exquisitely detailed depictions of everyday existence in these alternate worlds.” Queen of None was hailed by Kirkus as “a captivating look at the intriguing figures in King Arthur’s golden realm.
In 2021, Queen of None won the Manly Wade Wellman Award for speculative fiction; it was re-released in 2024 by Solaris books, with its two sequels, Queen of Fury and Queen of Mercy, coming soon. Netherford Hall, a sapphic Pride & Prejudice retelling (with witches) launches in August of 2024.
When she is not writing, she is often researching historical fashion and textiles or entrenched in medieval illuminated manuscripts. She lives with her family in Chapel Hill, NC, where she is slowly turning her entire yard into a garden.
