Lindsey Carmichael

Lindsey Carmichael will be appearing at ArmadilloCon 2024!

Lindsey Carmichael is a queer disabled writer whose fiction and poetry has appeared in Analecta and Hothouse. Her story “Marit the Resolute” debuted in August 2024 in the fantasy anthology Traveling Light, set in the shared universe of Hugo-finalist podcast Worldbuilding for Masochists. A mutant Lindsey multiclassed as a hedgewitch and two-time Paralympian. She set a world record in archery in 2004 and won a bronze medal in 2008.

She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in English and History. Work in the nonprofit field and higher education helped her find her passion in themes of equity and belonging. When not gardening, gaming, and embroidering fractals on fabric, she can be found at her local library, popping wheelies in a wheelchair that matches her manicure.

Though now retired as both an archer and a coach, she has served as an archery consultant and reference model for creatives such as Hugo Award-Winning artist Julie Dillon and the north Texas organization Writers in the Field. As of the Tokyo Games, she remains the only US woman to win an Olympic or Paralympic archery medal in singles since 1996.
