Jon Black will be appearing at ArmadilloCon 2024!
One-half of what has been described as a “nerd power-couple” consisting of Jon Black and Jess Tucker, Jon writes from coffeehouses and bars wherever he finds himself. His distinctive blend of award-winning historical fiction with supernatural, horror, or pulp flavors has been called “historical fan service.” Jon’s best known publications include the Bel Nemeton series, weaving together a quirky re-imagining of Arthurian mythology with brainy 21st century pulp; as well as Gabriel’s Trumpet, a supernatural mystery immersed in 1920s jazz culture. His novel-length story “Swinging Londons” is featured the Dr. Who charity anthology “Defending Earth.” This year saw the publication of “Overdue” a shared-universe anthology from 18th Wall Productions joining together the world of Jon’s Bel Nemeton series with M.H. Norris’s All the Petty Myths, featuring ten stories by ten excellent authors. This year, look for his collection of Hill Country supernatural stories, set in the fictional Junzt County, as well as the punk rock-fueled monster mashup Chupacabra vs. Rougarou. Jon is also an internationally published music journalist, speech writer, ghostwriter, and game designer.
