Code of Conduct

Event Code of Conduct

ArmadilloCon is dedicated to providing an inclusive and harassment-free experience for participants at all of our events. ArmadilloCon is intended to provide opportunities for fun, social connection, networking and collaboration in the community of science fiction and fantasy readers and writers. It exists to encourage the open exchange of ideas and expression and requires an environment that recognizes the inherent worth of every person and group. While at ArmadilloCon, any participants, including members, speakers, attendees, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, booth staff, convention support staff and anyone else, should not engage in harassment in any form.

Your registration for this event indicates your agreement to abide by this policy and its terms.

Expected Behavior

Be respectful and courteous towards others.

Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and speech (both verbal and written).

Alert event organizers if you notice any behavior that is not aligned with this code of conduct by visiting the Help Desk or messaging an event organizer or moderator in the Event Chat.

Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment will not be tolerated in any form. This includes but is not limited to harassment based on gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion or any other status protected by federal and Texas state law. Harassment includes the use of abusive, offensive or degrading language, deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of sessions or other events, inappropriate sexual imagery, and unwelcome sexual advances or requests for sexual favors. Costumes and other attire are not an invitation for harassment. Harassment of any kind, from intimidation to illegal behavior, will not be tolerated. We also expect you to refrain from other types of illegal, destructive, and hazardous conduct. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, ArmadilloCon organizers or moderation staff may take any action they deem appropriate depending on the circumstances, ranging from issuance of a warning to the offending individual, to expulsion from the conference. ArmadilloCon also reserves the right to exclude any participant found to be engaging in harassing behavior from participating in any further F.A.C.T. or ArmadilloCon events.

What to Do If You Witness or Are Subject to Unacceptable Behavior

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns relating to harassment, please contact a member of the event staff immediately. Event staff can be identified by staff badges, and an event organizer can be found at the online Help Booth at any time.
